Thodi Thodi by Anindya Ray

"A letter buried in 1985, found in 2024. A heartbreaking and hopeful tale of memory, healing, and the small ways care connects us across generations."

Thodi Thodi by Anindya Ray is a deeply moving dual-timeline novel that spans two generations and two distinct Indian landscapes: post-tragedy Bhopal in 1985 and modern-day Coimbatore.

In the harrowing winter following the Bhopal gas disaster, a young boy buries a biscuit tin at the base of his lane's last standing wall. Inside lies a list of names, a few carefully handwritten sentences, and a quiet question meant for whoever might unearth it decades later. Thirty-nine years on, a young architect conducting a restoration survey discovers the tin buried beneath loose soil. As she unravels the boy's message, a quiet connection forms between a mother lighting a lamp in a ruined lane, a Tamil teacher reading Premchand to her class, and a child’s unanswered question.

Rich in emotional depth and historical resonance, Thodi Thodi ("little by little") is a tender exploration of memory, endurance, loss, and the slow, profound ways human compassion bridges time and distance.
