The First Witch of Boston: A Novel – Andrea Catalano

"A gripping, intimate historical novel based on the true story of Margaret Jones, the first woman to be found guilty of witchcraft in seventeenth-century Massachusetts!"

In 1646, Thomas and Margaret Jones arrive in the Massachusetts Bay Colony from England to build a new life. Though of differing temperaments—cautious Thomas and fiery Margaret, a healer—they share a profound love spanning decades. Expecting a child, their new beginning seems full of promise.

However, in an austere Puritan community fueled by religious hysteria and mistrust, Margaret's bold and independent nature draws scorn. Soon mistrusted as a cunning woman rather than a caregiver, personal tragedies and societal fear turn the colony against her. Inspired by actual court records and diary entries, The First Witch of Boston is a harrowing story of unjust accusation and enduring love amidst historical turmoil.
