A Glimpse into the Bhagavadgeetha

The Geetha has devised a philosophico-religious tool for justifying the Indian hierarchical social system which apparently the Lord himself has ordained. Obviously, there was some interrogation of the system around the third and fourth centuries in India which the Geetha seeks to rebut. This polemics is placed alongside of such lofty ideas as constancy of mind, threefold qualities, devotion, incarnation and the like. There has been for long a debate whether Geetha is a religious or philosophical text. A sociological and historical study of the text is thus highly desirable. The present work looks at the Geetha comprehensively to place it in the right perspective.
