Dalit atrocities are happening all the time. The horrific conditions of the caste system are emerging. In such a situation, all of us need to do important work to fulfill the aspirations of an egalitarian society in the anti-caste movement.

We have a responsibility to awaken Dalits, backward classes and minorities. The efforts of Gururaj Desai, who was the leader of the N.F.I.S.I. who was present during the Marakumbi incident and brought out the facts, are significant and commendable. It can help the public awareness campaign.

This book reveals several factual issues such as the atrocities committed against the oppressed community in Marakumbi village of Gangavati taluk, Koppal district, and their struggle against it.

Marakumbi village is an irrigated area, and there are details of how the Madiga community fought for their rights in an area where they could not stand up against the landlord zamindars.

They have shown that by forming the Karnataka Prantha Krishi Koolikara Sangha in the village, they stood up against the caste discrimination against them, and if they fight on the belief that the organization is the pillar for emancipation from exploitation, they will win.

Congratulations to Gururaj Desai for bringing out the struggles of the Madiga community of Marakumbi for basic rights such as land, housing, water, toilets, roads, etc., in the form of a book.
