Why do they die? What happens when they do? Should we just sit and watch as languages die? Whose responsibility is it to preserve languages? These and other such questions are now coming up for discussion. Linguists and people-friendly organizations are formulating action plans to preserve the world's languages. Popular media are working to draw people's attention to this issue. There is a need to re-examine all these efforts and the philosophy behind them. Looking at the foundations that explain the consequences of language extinction from a different perspective, plans are being made to protect the temples. On one hand, there is an attempt to save languages, and on the other, the communities that speak those languages are being displaced in the name of development. While it is said that 'the knowledge of communities is embedded in languages,' the prevention of that knowledge from becoming active is also ongoing.
